I am pretty sure it limited to a few brands of Camcorders. My friend has a sony and although it has a usb 2 port on it, you can only transfer photos with it. Not only that, it didn't even come with a firewire cable yet it came with a usb 2 cable.

Ya, none of them come with the firewire cables. I knew that, but someone whom I worked with told me that you could upload video thru USB but it would just be alot slower.

In my experience USB 2.0 only works for images. Other then that FireWire is a must.

You can upload using USB 2.0, but you need the camera's software to transfer the data.

You won't like the results. USB will drop frames. Get a Firewire PC Card.

Go FIrewire. USB is basically not as reliable - and most good camcorders are equipped to use Firewire.
