We plan to buy 802.11g type APs for our wifi network, but we do have laptops with 802.11b, someone told me that the g type will only have 54mbps speed if all the computers have g type cards installed, even if 1 of them is running on b type card the data transfer will fall down to 11mbps for all to accomodate that one.
Is it true, I thought it to be a node to node connection means, the AP will be passing the data & Negotiate the speed as per the client computer & do the data transfer at required speed.
Hope some of you can clear the doubts.
