I have no immediate plans for this but was wondering about possible future upgrades?

At the moment my system is performing fine and may b I would be better off upgrading CPU... but... if i were to go for 4x512 (to keep it cheap and simple!!!) instead of selling my 2x512 and going for 2x1gig...what would the perfomance difference be between 4x512 and 2x1???

Thank

some difference when benchmarking, but not really noticeable for everyday use. But big difference if you are doing CAD or 3D [or any apps that have to deal with a large amount of data) because the RAM will make the apps not having to rely on virtual memory and this will speed up rendering or drawing.

crazylegs,

Having two gigs either way will make a difference especially in photo editing, video editing, cad, and some games (Battlefield2) vs. one gig. The only difference with using 4 sticks vs. 2 on an amd cpu is that you might have some problems hitting 1T in your memory timings if you are using low latency memory. I had this problem with my a8n-sli premium board which is almost the same as yours. For some reason with 4 sticks, the on CPU memory controller with amd's has a problem with hitting 1T and this will make a performance difference across the board on all apps. Not huge but it will be there. If you have the money and use low latency memory get 2 1GB sticks. Plus you will have some room to grow.
