USING 4 out of 4 SDRAM DIMM SLOTS on MB = stable or NOT?

I have 4 pieces of 256MB PC133 SDRAM that I want to put into a MB of somekind to make a 1GIG Memory PC, but I don't know who makes a Board where they OFFER 4 DIMM SLOTS THAT ACTUALLY WORK... basically from what I recall, boards MAY have 4 slots but heh heh either you sometimes actually have to use ECC memory or it won't work OR the 4th DIMM SLOT actually doesn't even gonna give you a stable PC if you use it.

For that matter are there and DDR memory based Boards that have 4 slots these days THAT WORKS when all slots are used?

For what it's worth I really want a PC with 1 Gig of Memory in it so I'd even get a DDR board & all the memory if that's what it takes.
