Using 1xx series Opteron in two-way MB

Has anyone tried this successfully? I've read that the 1xx CPUs are identicle to the 2xx CPUs. Is there any truth to that or has AMD disable any multi-cpu support fromteh 1xx units?

When they first came out yes the 1xx chips could be run in a 2xx setup. But as far as I know now, all 1xx are single ONLY chips.

The way I understand it is that the CPU interconnects have been disabled in the 1xx chips completely, thus not allowing them to scale as well as the 2xx chips (which only have one interconnect enabled vs 8xx Opterons) when used in a dual-cpu setup. It may be possible to find a mobo that will re-enable them, but that is highly unlikely.
