Right, but is that Tivo portable? Could you watch your shows anywhere with it?

No but I do have Tivo2toGo on my other laptop and can transfer files. I get your point though.

I wish I could set it up to play tv and put it somewhere in the kitchen. Every once in a while that would come in handy. Even if I could do it I would have to run a coax through the attic and out the wall somewhere. Not really sure I want to do all that.

It turns your laptop into a TV via wireless, or any other PC for that matter will work with it. The base station resides in your home along with your cablebox and TV.

I think thats your best bet:)

You mean the laptop would work with a slingbox or I can turn it into a slingbox? I have heard of slingbox's but do not know that much about them.
I would love to do that.

That's actually a very good idea and there is free software to accomplish that.

Buy a USB TV tuner and install Orb.

If I had a spare laptop, I'd use it to monitor car performance.

You wouldn't happen to know anything about using a laptop to monitor a car's performance/change timings, monitor air to fuel ratio and check for diagnostic codes, would you? (Is interested)
