I just found My \Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp folder keeps growing & growing. I wondered if I got virus? Scanned with Avast and can't find anything.

The folder is full of Temp1_xxxxxxxxx, Temp2_xxxxxxxxx, Temp3_xxxxxxxxxx, etc files.

And the file name looks like some deleted files. The folder grow 10GB a day, since I only reserved 60GB for my Vista64 OS partition, it fills up quickly. I have to delete it everyday.

What's going on here?

Run filemon and see what is writing to that directory.

Thanks. It says it's been replaced by Process Monitor. Will try that.

I ran the process Monitor and found the only process that's writing in that folder are Explorer.exe , Google Deskop, svchost.exe

I found it's probably Google Desktop is eating my disk space!

I have exactly the same problem here.

And tons of zip file like this http://www.box.net/shared/in7rdnimby

Something is very wrong here.

2 days ago I disable Microsoft Windows Index service on Vista and downlaoded Google Desktop.

I thought I just invited another demon.

I really hate these companies.

Sometimes an svchost.exe will be very active when there is a virus or some sort of mal-ware. Generally this kind of attack is from visiting the wrong sites online.

I know sometimes svchost.exe goes with virus. But this time, it's not.

After I disabled Google Desktop, deleted those files, and watched it for 4 hours, the symptom is completely gone.
