I know that people like to hate on nvidia, myself included, but in the case of the Tegra 4, aren't A15s hot in general? The Nexus 10 throttles for example. Hell, the Nexus 4 throttles too. Modern CPUs are just too hot. The GS4 throttles too doesn't it?

So whats so surprising the Tegra 4 throttles? Yes its disappointing, but let's not single out nVidia if in general A15s are just throttling.

Those either devices may throttle, but they don't really get hot. Also, the SGS4 doesn't throttle all the much. The AT freezer test isn't that much better than the regular test if at all.

The CPU gets hot though. That's how they throttle. People are talking about raising limits in the Nexus 10 kernel to prevent throttling. How hot are we talking about here in the case of the Tegra 4?

I think the issue is not throttling, but the devices which are shutting themselves off after 20-30 minutes of load. That is much, muuuuch worse than throttling.

Amazon user reviews is what we are resorting to as proof of something?

If the comments were about performance or specs I would agree with you but something like heat is mundane; anyone should be able to comment on how hot something is or whether it is uncomfortable or not.

You should drop anandtech as a review site then and head on over to amazon. Plenty of reviews to be read lol

Yes, so Anandtech can take the tablet, run a game on it, and confirm "it shuts off after 20 minutes". And it will be much more helpful.

The reviewer (Brian Klug) seems to suggest that the SGS4 throttles all the time, while the One doesn't do it nearly as often due to the aluminum unibody conducting the heat away from the SoC. (And into the hand, but that's the compromise.)

If its a non technical review, it tends to be accurate. I follow Amazon reviews if there are a lot of them saying the same thing and I haven't been steered wrong yet.
