A person knows how to FTP, but can't compress files. Calls me over to help out (not a problem) Trying to upload 3.5 MB of Adobe PSD files. Obviously spends time in photoshop. As I'm preparing to ZIP the files for her I get this question:
"PSD files are about the same size as JPG files, right?"
"Uh, no. PSD files are bigger."
"Not by a lot though, right?"
"In my experience as much as 5 times bigger."
"Oh. Maybe instead of compressing the PSD files I'll just save them as JPG then, they don't need to be PSD."
-----
Now, I'm not really upset about anything, I just want to know how a person can use photoshop like an expert and not know the slightest bit about image file types? Isn't that kind of like being a mechanic and not knowing where to put gasoline into the car?
