User rights problem with Server 2003

I have a user that needs rights to a specific folder within a department folder. Rather than giving her rights to the top level department folder, I created a seperate user group, gave that group full control to the folder she needs access to then added her to that group.

She can browse the contents of the folder, can open and view files, but cannot modify or create new files in the folder.

I've done this several times in the past before; what am I doing wrong here?!

I figured it out, the Everyone group on the share permission was set to read only, and that being the most restrictive set of rights was trumping the rights of the special group I created.

Don't use Share permissions to control access. It makes life too complicated. Standard practice is to set a shared folder to "Everyone, Full Control". Control permissions using the "Security permissions" settings.
