User ratings suggestion

I know we've already gone over how user ratings are a sad measure of anything and are essentially useless at the moment, but it might be a good idea to make it so that only people who have ratings enabled in their profile can rate others. And along with this, disabling ratings should take a length of time (12 hours, maybe), so that people can't enable their ratings to rate others and then turn it off afterwards.

This obviously doesn't apply if you want to scrap the rating idea, but it's something to think about.

The other thing that would need to be done is make it so that you can change a rating that you gave someone.

(it would be nice to change answers in a poll, also)

Now this is just a suggestion without alot a thought so feel free too blow holes in it. What if their was a list of the average rating you gave people that way you could see if someont was just being sour.

The biggest problem with ratings is peeps don't usually rate until their mad.

The thing I see with the ratings is they are not used for anything at all. How many people have used then to make a decision in the for sale and trade forum? Probably none. The way it is set up it turns into a "popularity" number. There are some people that give everybody 1's but there is probably a equal amount of people who give everybody 10's for no reason.

A good idea whould be to have a "heatware" style rating system built into the for sale and trade forum.
