User Profile Problem in WinXP

I'm using winXP when i log on it says that my profile is corrupt. The thing is when i go to C:\Documents and Settings\(My Profile Name), my profile is still there. So then after i right click on My Computer>Properties>Advanced Tab>User Profiles>Settings it says that the status of my profile is "backup", and it is the only profile on that list (there is no other profile that has a 'local' Status) how can i change this? right now i'm looking in regedit but can't find anything....HELP!!!!
