wonder what chipset/motherboard he is running

Yes, but that is using a Vapochill system. I would like to see some results either with a good HSF or watercooling.

It would be nice.....But I can't see close to a 1000MHz overclock out of them. 😉

Don't really need a 1000MHz OC on an AXP to match the OC'ed performance of the P4. Unless of course you start getting to the 2.66/2.8GHz chips, which OC very high, I highly doubt the 2400 can OC to 3500-3600 levels. But then again, the 2.66 and 2.8's are expensive, the 2400 is a ~$200 part. 😀

It's all about the model numbers....

15x133 = about 2ghz or a model number of 2400+
16x133 = 2.1 or 2600+
so where's that put 2.5ghz

133x19 = 2.5 3200+
assuming the model number goes up every 66mhz

of course with higher FSB
166x13 = 2.17 2700+
166x13.5 = 2.25 2800+
166x15 = 2.5 3100+
assuming the model number goes up every 83mhz

i've heard reports on one site of someone oc'n a T-bred higher than 2.5 can't remember which review it was tho...
i wouldn't be suprised if they hit 2.8ghz (3500+ 17x166)
also if yur running a 200mhz fsb things could look interesting in the high clocks with benchmarks

either way it definately gets the model number up there with Intel's fastest
although these are just model numbers i am speculating on i would love to see some benchmarks of some OC'd T-breds at atleast 2.5ghz
this is something that's been in the back of my mind for awhile now and has been overlooked by many P4 overclockers


anyone that gets a 2400+ overclock it and post some benchmarks
we'd love to see

In there lies the true crap about AMD Pr rating which is the reason they had a correctio with the tbred rev B's and wuold likely need another to get the true rating at those speeds....100pr points per 66mhz...Yeah Right!!! The Cpu does not scale that good let alone 150% better then mhz with a p4....


Go check out Toms hardware where he oc'd xp Rev B's to as high as 3200+ I believe and look at how it barely equaled or beat a p4 2.8ghz...

Since I have seen some getting 2.53ghz p4's to 3ghz which equals a 158fsb or 632 system bus and coupled with 424mhz ddr which should come very close to rdram 3.0ghz I think the 2.53ghz p4 would win...Let alone those are not the new c1 stepping chips which should take most all 2.53ghz if not 1.8's to 2.4 chips to 3ghz or beyond....


NOtice that in that thread he oc'd rev b tbreds of 133fsb so obviously the 166fsb chips (2700-2800) should do better at same fsb as well.

AMD Pr rating is definitely showing its age...Notice how now even with the amd mod the pr rating just me4ets p4 speeds where as in the past a pr rating was very conservative at best and often time way low compared to its p4 counterpart and I am even talking about the 2.0a northwood...

By the way that is a kick-ass OC...I am glad to see AMD has some decent ocing chips with the newer t-breds...


Here is the link to review which shows the amd pr rating failure...notice how the oc'd 3400 not 3200+ does against P4 2.8 and that it was running with a 166fsb....

I only state this cause I get sick of this pr rating which does not scale real world the way AMD has it set up...I think it scale well to its actual pertcentage of rue mhz increase but not eh pr rating increase...

Duvie, but doesn't the 2800+ run at 2250MHz, and the 2700+ at 2166MHz? That's a PR-to-MHz ratio of 100:83, not 100:66 anymore. A bit more realistic.

Well first of all we were talking about the 2400 and 2600's where it is 2ghz = 2400 and 2.133ghz = 2600 or 200:133 or 100:66


Yes it definitely would be and I have not got to view and benching of that as Toms didn't run any except at the 3400+ level and that may not be what AMD would have likely called it so it would help....

Once again we were talking about the 2400+ being pushed up to 2.5ghz (true mhz) then applied to amd rediculous 100:66 pr rating...

The 100:83 would be better but may agin still over time need adjustment though likley the change in architecture like the barton would happen first....

At new 100:83 ratio a 2.5ghz chip would only be a 3100+
Old ratio 100:66 ratio a 2.5ghz chip would be a 3400+ as stated by Toms....

The numbers don't match the P4 exactely but that's not the point
the point is that the Athlon's are still good overclockers just as good as, if not better than, any P4 out now
you don't hafta crank an Athlon up 1ghz to make it perform like the P4's
the 83:100 ratio is close
of course if you don't agree with it then change it a bit or better yet benchmark
you'll see that the athlon's top-end overclock is now easily up there with the P4's top-end overclock
they have really gotten their .13 process in line
