User Defined DHCP Scope Options

We have a client\server application that will allow clients to automatically register with the server based on a user defined DHCP scope option. I had our network team make the change to the DHCP scope in question but Im not getting the registration to occur so Im not sure if its something with the scope option or something with the server. I ran WireShark on a system in the scope while releasing\renewing the IP address and I see the full discover\request\offer\ack conversation but I do not see the option (202 in our case) being sent to the client.

Are all scope options automatically sent to a client requesting an IP or does the client have to do something to request a particular option?
