Maybe silly suggestion.
How about giving some space in the user CP for members to add their computers like some people do in their sig, and maybe all their computer related home connections including their routers and networks and HTPCs, and anything that can be controlled through a computer/tablet/smartphone. Eventually this can turn out to be a modern home computer setup guide.
This will make it easier for troubleshooting purposes and people will have access to setups that might want to try.
