User banned?

My friend is at home on spring break right now, and upon trying to post a message to the forums, he gets the following message:

<< You have been forbidden to post/reply or edit a message in these forums >>

He goes by the username Achelmer. We were wondering if this means that he has been banned, and if so, why has this been done? It seems to simply have come out of nowhere.

Thanks much!

According to our records, he isn't banned. Please ask your friend to email us describing his problem, and we'll see whether we can troubleshoot this.

ditto that, what ISP, there are a few that are banned, AOL is the biggie. I dont know of the others but I am sure they are out there. also what E-mail service is he using? alot of the freebee's are banned aswell, such as hotmail, onebox, ect...

Thanks for the advice guys, I will have him email the administrators.

I don't know what ISP he's using right now, but I know its not his email thats causing the problem, as it is an address we get at our college. I'm on the same domain.

Thanks again!

Does "at home" mean Mom and Dad's? If so, I'd bet they're on AOL. Lots of those old geezers are.

Yes, at home does mean mom and dad's, but being a computer engineering major like myself, i can assure you he won't stand for AOL. 😉

Edit:
Well, at least, if he was using AOL, I would be extremely shocked, not to mention disappointed. 😱
