blocknews. my bandwidth cap is too low to utilize those unlimited accounts, so blocknews works out to be like $4/mo.

I used to use them heavily as my old ISP had GREAT usenet access. Then I switched ISPs and my new one didn't have any access. I figured I could get a dedicated usenet provider with the new ISP and still save money. Turned out that I didn't need any usenet at all. Torrents fill the gap with everything I used to get from newsgroups.

Any expense spread over long term will look like a lot of money. If you're happy with the monthly rate, it's worth it.

I still don't get why people pay for newsgroups. Rapidshare is superior. Same speed or faster w/multilple files, easier to add files with flashgot/flashget (or other DL client), browser search, it can actually act as a legit file storage service, possibly as many or more files than newsgroups (not entirely sure about this), price is cheap ($6 for me monthly) or even free if you earn points uploading.

google rapidhshare.com/files + file you want, you pretty much can find what you want. Sometimes you have to sort through pages, but it's not that hard, and there are Firefox addon auto link checkers.

Of course, as well as public domain movies and music.

Whoa! They have public domain movies also?!? I just finished downloading the last of the public domain music and was wondering if I should keep my subscription or not. I guess I'll keep it! ():)
