Sorry, not sure if this belongs in software, but off-topic seemed a bit much.
Looking for opinions, for those that use Usenet...are there any pay-for-use servers that actually perform well (using @home cable modem)
Ones I've tried:
Supernews/Remarq -- Great performance and retention, but nowadays way too expensive (On a typical day I get 150KB/sec, sometime 400-600)
Newsguy -- heard good things, but for me I get terrible performance. Usually 20 or 30k at best.
@home -- great perfomance(600K), low retention, does not have all the groups
usenet-access/sucknews -- again, poor performance except for one time.
Anyone have any suggestions?
