Useless posts

Why do you people make useless posts that never add anything whatsoever to the conversation? I see people saying "QFT" or simply just re-quoting to what someone else said. This adds absolutely no original idea, thought, or anything positive to what the topic is about. All "QFT" or a blank quoted reply is saying is "I agree". Why not quote and add something of your own to it?

Unfortunately, you're probably right. It's something that I've thought about though, it's really annoying.

Because it's annoying, and I'm suprised that I'm the first to think it's annoying enough to post something about it.

It annoyed me at first, but then I started doing it too... you guys all suck, bad influences! 😀 Who cares though, it's fun. Try and have some fun if you're going to post here anyways, instead of taking offense. 🙂

I'll actually post something serious here.

Sometimes you have nothing to add, and you agree with another poster. For example, maybe the previous poster put it in a better way than you ever could. So the best thing to say is "ditto" or "I agree". Often in these situations, we should not just shut up and stay out of the thread:
1) The person who posted it in the first place enjoys the satisfaction that his/her post was read and that others agree.
2) Often if it turns to a debate, the most important thing is # of people on either side. Thus a quick ditto gives your side one more tally.
3) Sometimes a person just isn't listening. A ditto shows that maybe you really should pay attention to that specific text.

I have fun when I post here, or else I wouldn't post at all. I'm not taking any type of offense to it, as it's not really directed towards me but it's an observation I've made. I don't really see the fun in saying "I agree" without having something of my own to say.

1.) A lack of disagreement might represent agreement.
2.) Poll
3.) Cliff notes plz.. same type thing. If someone isn't paying attention, why should a "QFT" reminder tell that person to read it again.

Maybe I'm stretching here but when it comes down to it, I don't see people using a QFT or blank reply as a tally, just an extra post count.

Edit: Actually I can see a use for the whole QFT thing. If someone makes a really good point or drives a point home then QFT may be reasonable. I don't think 10 of them are necessary though. Just quoting something blank or saying QFT because someones like "this movie sux" OMG QFT is stupid.

If you get annoyed by what kind of stuff people post on the internet, I think you should quit right now and maybe take up basket weaving or something.
