Used studded winter tire

The thread on the second tire from the right looks odd.

Is that uneven wear or there is something wrong with the tire? Or maybe it's just the angle of the shot?



What are the pros and cons of studded tires? I have never used them.

That tire looks damaged.
If you live in a area where it snows a lot and there is packed snow on the road, they are great.
 
Downside is they are noisier and they 'skitter' on dry/wet pavement if there is no snow/ice. doesn't matter to me cause its snow/ice i bought them for if its slightly poorer on dry its still 10 better than being on ice I'll adjust

Here in Nova Scotia we do get a fair amount of snow but the weather is generally mild so we don't get a lot of packed snow on the roads and the salt works quite well. Regular winter tires are noisy enough for me, Ill keep on looking. Lot's of time before the winter is here.
