used Sprint Ipad Air 2, anything I should look for?

Thinking about buy a used one. I'm an apple noob and my first used ipad the guy showed me it was factory reset and there was no wifi around so I didn't login, only to find out later I couldn't sign in. He said he got it in some sprint phone promotion, I'm afraid if he cancels his sprint connection the Ipad might not work (I'm only interested in using the wifi, is the sprint unlocked, I might buy a cheap tmobile sim).
 
All iPads are unlocked, the Sprint variant doesn't have all the radios for GSM IIRC.

As long as it isn't cloud locked, it should work on WiFi, but in general, I stay away from Sprint stuff.

The seller can't tell you if it's paid off, and if it's cloud locked? I'd be pretty reluctant to consider it.
