So I ordered a slim cd/dvd drive off Newegg for my laptop cuz my current drive is dead. Placed the order 10 AM Western time yesterday (Jan 2nd) using UPS Next Day. Still hasn't shipped from their warehouse. Was hoping to get the package at my house today cuz imma be gone for 4 months (doing co-op :D). Complete garbage :|

PS. Talked to a service rep.. was offered 5 dollars.. would not alter shipping destination.

</rant>

Edit: Package is currently set to arrive at my house.. which I'll be leaving tonight.

Not as bad as paying 30$ for saturday delivery. My younger bro paid for that because it was extremely critical he receive the item on saturday, and they fudged. He called the company, bitched at them for a while, and got free shipping (got refunded full saturday delivery shipping fees).

Next day shipping is fine if the company which is selling the goods actually gets the order processed in a timely manner. I ran into this awhile ago. The shippers (UPS, FedEx, etc.) guarantee next day shipping (or whatever is paid for), but the seller (NewEgg, Dell, etc.) typically takes several days to "process" (ie., get off their @sses) the order and hand it off to the shipping company.

I had Dell ship out a laptop battery overnight to me because I was leaving for Baghdad in a couple days, and they didn't actually send it out until I had already arrived in Baghdad so my wife had to forward it to me. Jerks.

Well Dell is notoriously slow when it comes to processing. Newegg usually takes 1 day.

I thought Newegg made it pretty clear that they may not ship it out immediately and you pay for shipping based on when it's shipped, not when it's ordered. They even allow you to pay a little extra for rush processing - did you do that?

That I did not. Was hopin to get away without getting robbed any further (the premium paid on shipping was enough, or so I hoped).

I don't think it is the carriers fault... Sounds more like the standard slow ass Newegg processing.
