I'm thinking of buying a motorcycle, older 1970-1985 400-650cc standard style. I've looked in local classifieds, ebay and cycletrader, any other places i should look? also i'm thinking mid-late fall would be the best time to buy, more sellers, right?

actually, the best time is beginning of the season, when ppl first go to start up the bike, and it doesnt start, they get frustrated and sell it.

adjust the valves, or put in a new battery, and you got yourself a cheap bike.

but the fall is good as well, its less of a guess, they will know its working, etc.

why that old of a bike? unless its for the retro look you can find late 90s models for pretty cheap, check out your local motorcycle dealers they often have used bikes as well as new and might even have some sort of warranty as well.

As far as the best time to find a good deal is usually around fall and winter, when all the wives b!itch and moan about how the husband never rides it and it just takes up space in the garage.

yeah i like the retro look of the older bikes. newer styling just doesn't do it for me. plus i like to work on things and do some hands on learning. I wouldn't mind finding something that needs a bit of work over the winter so it can be ready for the spring.
