a bud of mine just bought a '95 e class with just over 100,000 miles for just over 10K... car looks great, good interior, etc. maybe i should be looking at used mercs?

Why? One of my friends has one that's over 20 years old and it's still running great. Yeah, he needs to get it tuned regularly but it's very reliable.

Indeed...why? My first car will be a 1985 300SD Turbodiesel. It's just shy of 190k right now. The car has been well maintained (my parents have had it from the start lol); it's never had any major repair work...most intensive thing was like a 100k full check up/tune up/etc. All you need to do is drive the thing once or twice a week...for a good 30 minutes or so, otherwise it'll start being a pain in the arse.

But personally...if I had 20k, i'd get a used MB over a new something else.
