Used lens market is crazy I'm telling you

I don't know which one it is, but man, these crazy nuts with too much money to spend are ruining all the deals.

I was looking at 35mm prime for a Nikon. It's $260 from B&H _new_ with warranty from B&H (imported, but who gives a flying fvck). I check out eBay: yay, $75 for an excellent condition. Maybe I'll snatch it for $150 or so.

Guess what? It goes for $245 plus $15 shipping. This is ridiculous!

And of course, everyone rushes on to the next 35 mm lens that's up expiring soon.

The introduction of cheap DSLRs has really messed up the used lens market.

I wanted to get a 35/1.4 AIS since last summer. Back then they were going for under $300, and I was holding out for $250. Finally scored one for $275 in Dec, and now I doubt you'll be able to find it for less than $400. Prices are going up fast.

Ebay isn't the best place for lenses. I've been pretty lucky on craigslist (85/1.4 AF-D for $650, 50/1.4 AF for $175, 105/1.8 AIS for $300, 55/3.5 AIS for $70), but there's no telling how much longer that'll last.

I've noticed the expensive used lens market also. Good lenses are typically pretty damn close to (if not exactly) what they retail for, which I just can't understand.

Sounds good to me, I have about a half-dozen high end Nikon lenses I am thinking of selling... anyone need a manual focus Nikon 500mm F4?

in most cases, camera equipment is best bought used. save tons of money. not many people know about this route of purchase. i managed to snag a 580ex for $290 shipped and 70-200f4L MINT with hoya uv for $440 shipped.

All I have to say is that I have the Canon 35mm F/2 prime and it is the lens I use most the time.

The only cheap lenses on Ebay are ones that are old and you either have to pull/push for zoom or they are not auto focus lens.

There's nothing wrong with manual lenses. I almost have more manual gear than AF gear.
