Cowboom has used 2nd Gen 8GB iPod Touches for $69.99 + $5 shipping, condition says they may have a few scratches but that's a heck of a price either way.

For those of you who don't know, Cowboom is a branch of Best Buy so buy with confidence.

Thanks! We have a friend looking for one of these for her son. She doesn't have a lot of money so the price here is great.

Condition 4... Ouch.

Bought a Condition 5 phone and it was absolutely unacceptable.

So what exactly does Condition 5 mean? Are the screens at least scratch free? I told my daughter I would buy her an MP3 player if she did well in school (A's). Well....Dads shopping....

Another option is to buy an android phone off ebay and just use it as an android touch. I just bought a LG optimus for $35 with a bad ESN, no plans to use it as a phone anyway, and an 8 gig micro sd card for $7. I bought it for more than just an MP3 player but it does a good job as one of those too. I just use it in airplane mode all the time unless I need blue tooth so the cell phone part stays turned off to save some battery power.

If you are looking for a used iPod or willing to buy a beater and then have it refurbished, http://www.ipodzens.com/ is a great place.

I picked up a 80GB Gen 5.5 so I got the last of the Wolfsen chipsets..$160 and they have options to add the largest HDD if you like (it's like 240GB I think, but HDD prices are out of whack today)...everything was brand new except the center wheel push button. That piece is no longer made. I had slight scratches on mine and nothing out-of-the-ordinary that wouldn't happen anyway.

It sits tucked away in the trunk storage compartment for iPod integration into my car.

They don't show any iPod Touches in stock ATM, but they do refurbish them and actually do answer emails and phone calls. Really excellent customer service. I missed the blurb that the center wheel would not be new. They were very polite and offered to swap it, but that the next one I got would be of about equal quality. While the piece is reported as not new, they do put them through high levels of testing and quality standards. You won't get one that has "I [HEART] JIMBO" etched into it :)

it really irritates me that people scratch the screens on their devices. if your device doesnt come with a screen protector, buy one! the way phones are made its practically impossible to replace the front glass, and the rest of the device can be perfect but if theres a big scratch across the screen or multiple ones it just ruins the whole thing

Most aren't considering then heirloom pieces but disposible.

i guess. its just so sad though. i also blame it on manufacturers purposefully making it hard to replace screens while at the same time not including screen protectors. they too want people to think phones are disposable

Dang, there's some for 59.99 now. Can these things play all of the current games for ipod touch?

No. Alot of new games are making 3rd generation video chipsets the minimum (3g ipod,3gs iphone). You will still find a ton of stuff that works on 2g though.

I always kept a protector on my 3GS, and it looked brand new when I sold it to upgrade to the 4S. The problem with the 4S is that the screen is so nice, the protector noticeably degrades the image. I'd like to protect it, but I also want my screen to look nice.... One thing I never do is keep in in the same pocket with keys, and that helps.
