I am buying a used oil guage and water temp (autometer) Anything I should to or check to see if I am getting a good guage. If its working?

Mechanical or electric...? Either way would just make sure the needles are zero`d or else they might be off calibration by either shock treatment or pegged out...?

Also a temp meter can be tested along side a thermal probe that is known to be accurate... The oil gauge is nothing more than a pressure gauge so it can be checked along side a know to be good and in calibration pressure gauge... Assuming these are mechanical...?
