Used g35 sedan vs. coupe?

I'd naturally go for the coupe in a heartbeat...but the sedan is almost 3k less than the coupe, probably because the coupe is in higher demand. I've been unable to find a straight comparison between the two.

The back seats arent very important to me, but a small trunk might be. I'm mostly concerned with overall performance. 20hp isnt going to make a big difference. Loose steering will. A laggier shifter will as well. I'm definitely going with the 5sp auto - as much as I enjoy a manual, I enjoy an auto far more in traffic. The coupe has gotten much praise for its quick automanual shifts, but I cant seem to figure out whether its tuned exactly the same in the sedan. Looking at 2003 models.

Coupe
+ Looks better
+ 20hp over the sedan (280 vs. 260)
+ Assumed tighter suspension/steering

Sedan
+ $3000 more in my pocket
+ 4 doors comes in handy sometimes
+ Much bigger trunk
+ Assumed smoother/quieter than coupe
+ Probably less abused than the coupe

Anyone driven them both and can speak of the differences?

I test drove both before buying a Mustang about a year ago. I'd definitely go with the Coupe. The sedan just isn't as much fun to drive or look at. Yes, you lose trunk space and usable rear seats.. but who cares? You're not buying a G35 to tote around your kids or get groceries.

You also left out the fact that the Coupe is only RWD.

I bought a G35 as a weekend car and to get groceries in it. And yes the sedan is RWD as well.

Sorry, meant only RWD.

The sedan is available in AWD.

They both have the same wheelbase and their weights should be about the same. To me, the coupe version of a car like that is a waste.

Coupe, as long as it's not your daily driver. Though even if it was my daily driver I might have to stick with the coupe.

sedan > coupe.

i personally would use the extra space, and a 20hp difference? not that much...also, imo, the coupe looks damn fugly.

I have a 2005 coupe with sports package. Suspension is tighter as hell, and the car can handle any corners with ease. That said:

-the trunk is useless. I can barely fit my golf bag in there.
-the backseats are useless, but not unexpected.
-kinda loud due to the tires and suspension.
-tires not rotable and pricey.
-"rough" ride
-fun as hell and sexay!

My coworker has a sedan. It is quieter and has smoother ride.

Check the trunk out yourself to see if it's sufficient for your needs. (the back seats do fold down if you need more space).

Maybe you could get the sedan and put a little money into the suspension and come out about even? Just a thought.
