Looking for a possible college car...dont want to spend any more than 5k
Saw some Nissan Maximas (94-96) for around 4k online
They each have 100+k miles on them, are Nissans known for a long life if they are well mantained? I know to look at hondas too but I would rather have a Nissan I think. Any info is helpful

I heard some of the earlier Maximas (89-94) had problems with the auto tranny after 100k, but I could be wrong.

A college car should be small. Maximas will cost you more in maintenance than say a civic etc. 4 maxima tires will cost you upward of 250 bucks while you can probably get them at 100+ for civic. A car with 100k will definitely need more maintenance (shocks/rotors/timing belt/etc etc). If I were you I would go with a newer/lesser mile civic/protege/corolla/integra for 4-5k.

Have you ever even owned a car? A maxima will have 15-16" tires while a civic will have 13-14" tires. So there will be a difference in price with the same brand of tires.

I would also check out Geo/Chevy Prizm (relax it's 100% Toyota Corolla under the hood), Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic.

I just picked up a '91 Toyota Camry with 169K on it, it'll go another 50K easily, and the $800 I stole it for is simply ridiculous 🙂
