i think ALL are no haggle dealerships. which means they take kbb price or w/e they use post it for under 500$ or something and thats it. you cant talk down or anything. I dont know what they charge for documents and etc.
for instance, i'm looking at a car X which kbb says is about 17k, i go everywhere and look and i see it for 15.5k- 20k. now if i went to look at the 17k car at a dealership i might be able to talk them to 15.5k.showing them a listing of the similar car and etc. where as carmax might list it for 16k or 16.5k and they are just dead firm.
carmax is good for people who dont know how to haggle or want to. its for the more simple auto shopper or the lazy one.
i did however see a really good price on a car i would want in their database. it was listed at 16.5k and the car normally goes for about 18k. so it would somewhat save me time of trying to low ball a dealership. problem being was it was at a diffrent carmax in texas but i'm in chicago. They told me it was $800 to ship the car here. so put that on top of the car making it like 17.3k it wasn;t worth the ship. because i know i can aleast talk down a reasonable dealership to 16.5k for a 18k car.
just treat them as any other car dealership's used car inventory. gotta know what the car you want is worth in your area and other areas as well. a AWD drive car in chicago might be higher priced VS say flordia or cali. same goes for a drop top.
