Used Canon A75 and 512MB CF card for 180.00 shipped, worth it?

The camera seems like a great camera, gets great reviews. But can it be had for less? It seems to me that it usually sells for abotu 200.00 right, and the CF card can be had for like 30.00 right? Well I guess that is a 50.00 dollar savings, so is it a good deal, or should I look elsewhere?

I got my A75 HERE. They are currently out of stock though. It's an ok camera, I find that it takes horribly blurry pictures in any sort of low light situation.

Yeah the seller kinda told me that, although I would hope to use it in well lit areas. Is that problem even when using the flash? I have heard its because with low light the shutter has to stay open longer to take in more light, thus allowing more time for any motion/shaking to affect the quality.

Oh yeah, and see you got it for 178.00, if I can get a CF card for 30.00, then I am only saving 28.00 bucks for a used camera. But then again thats a savings of what 13%. I don't know.

that's pretty much it.
most digitals suck in the dark, and all of the ones I've owned, take crap pics in poor lighting.

Wow didn't even realize that was you until a second ago. I just can't decide if this is a good deal or not. I am tempted to do it anyways, since you need the money, but I am hesitant. SO time for someone elses opinion.

Yeah even when using the flash my shots are blurry. I still haven't had much time to really 'tweak' the camera to try and get clearer shots though. Mostly been using the Auto and Night shooting modes(for dark pics). The camera does take pretty good close-up shots while in Macro mode though.

Haha.. thats why I added the wink. Sorry, I wasn't trying to confuse you or sway your opinion. I just thought it would have been cute.

Don't worry about me needing the money. I would feel extremely guilty if you just bought it out of pity.

Thanks 🙂

I wouldn't be buying it out of pity. All I was saying is that I can get a brand new one for less then 30.00 dollars more with the card. I just can't decide if thats enough to go one way or the other, but since I can't deicde either way, i figured you needing the money was at least a bonus point in your column. I would rather give my money to a hard workin ATer, then some retailer. But I would also like a full warranty and the ability to return it if I don't like it.

Wow, really? I'm not trying to argue with anyone, but with flash, I espically had no problems.

I just took these pictures while moving the camera quickly. Horizontially about 6 inches left and right holding the button until the photo was taken. The room is completely dark aside from the monitors glow.

Doesn't look too blurry... espically considering the hand movements I just done.

Dang it quit linking back to your darn site, every time you do, I go back to looking at the good pics, and get all distracted, LOL

If it's local from someone you know I would consider it.

CompUSA had the A75 with free 128MB for $170 and free shipping. Plus you get the warranty.

CF card prices are really dropping.

Its not local or from someone I know, its from Actaeon, form these forums, heck from this thread, LOL. Yeah and I am not real sure I need a huge 512MB CF card.

If you plan on taking a lot of high res pics, 512MB will come in handy.

256MB is a must have, I'd seen them around $15 AR.

Like how many exactly? I know it depends on some variables. But I doubt I would ever take more then 50 photos in the time it would take me to get back to my computer to offload them.

Now, here's a look at the image size and quality choices available on the A75:

It all depends on the settings you put on. On high quality and the largest image size, the camera estimates a bit more than 300. I think 312 to be exact.

Probally more than you would ever want.

🙂, Thanks for the interest. If anyone else is interested, give me a PM 🙂

Well according to that about 72 top quality pictures would fit on a 128MB card, which i think would suit me fine. Maybe 256MB would be better though, just in case, I do go on a long vacation or something.

I love my A75, I got it for like $100-$120 or something like that, through a rebate deal at staples/Office Depot one of those places. If you get it you will not be dissapointed. Its pretty good on battery life too using NiMh batteries, Way better than my moms crappy HP that will only take 10 pictures even with NiMh batteries.

Rechargeable batteries are a must have.

Picked up a VERY nice Panasonic 90 minute charger and 8 AA (2300 mAH's) for only $19.99 today, nice!

I wouldn't spend that much on the A75 when the A95 is available for $325.00 at MWAVE.Com. I just ordered mine yesterday. It seems like a lot of places throw in a 256 MB compact flash card with your order, but I am not sure if MWAVE does. I picked up a 1 GB card for $39.99 after rebate yesterday.

A great review of the Canon PowerShot A95. They review other cameras as well. They also include sample pictures that were taken with it.

Yeah but 325.00 is alot more then 175.00, what do I get for all that extra cash. I doubt its anythign i need, since really allw e need is a point and shoot camera, I just figured soem of the extra stuff on the A75 would be nice in case we start getting more into.
