Used books

Amazon.com has a lot of used books. You'll see a little link that says "New & Used" below their prices. Sometimes cheaper than half.com
 
I almost always buy my books used, and from Amazon marketplace. if you're looking for a fairly common paperback (or sometimes hardback) book you can usually find them for less than $0.50.
