It sounds like they are just fine sticking with Razr M.

It's not like it's an Inc2 that is 4 years old and running Gingerbread.

Seems like to upgrade from Razr M,
you either go all the way to 2013 (LG G2) or just stick with Razr M.

Go Razr M!

Ironically, it actually sounds like the best bang for the buck in used phones may well be the RAZR M itself (that my friend already owns).

There are tons for sale at $100, and based on this thread, seems the next best thing to the $300 level of G2, HTC One, etc.

at $100 I'd think of it as a better deal than the moto G. pretty similar quality in a much, much smaller package.

I mean, the moto G has a 60% higher total volume than that thing... for only a .2 inch increase in screen size.

I'm actually glad I found out about this model in this thread, thanks.

I have a RAZR M here. It's a pretty decent phone but I have a couple complaints about it.

The screen is sunk way too far in from the glass. I think they did that to get the bezels smaller but it's a fairly noticeable gap that always bugged me, especially coming from something like an iPhone where the LCD is fused to the glass.

That screen resolution... Understand the screen resolution is targeted towards it's market but if it had a 1280x720 res I think it would be a great device. But the RAZR HD that came out around the same time was 720p so kind of understand.

I think the Droid Mini is a fantastic successor to it and runs in the $200-300 range on swappa as well.

At that price, might as well get the HTC One or G2. Seems like Razr M is right where they should remain until they're ready for fork over $300 for a used phone upgrade. Anything less doesn't seem worthwhile.

I wasn't really recommending it for your situation, but if someone's looking for a smaller Android phone with decent specs fairly cheap it's a good choice. But the MotoX falls in the same category.

Galaxy S4, MotoX, HTC One, Galaxy Note 2, Droid DNA, LGG2.

Those are your best bets for Verizon-compatible devices used between $200-300.

I second the Note II suggestion. I bought one used in June 2013 and have little reason to upgrade. Battery life is stellar (can easily get a full day), and I've yet to run into an app that runs slowly. They are going for ~200 used on Craigslist and ebay and unless the previous owner was throwing it around, it should be in great shape.
