Hi All,

I'm thinking about getting a new set of wheels in the first part of 08 and am thinking I like the Accord and the TSX. At the same price point, about 20-22k, would you rather get a new accord or a used TSX?

I have an 06 TSX. Is this a V6 MT accord you are thinking about?

I like the TSX as a daily driver. Nice interior and toys inside. I took it to various road courses a few times(Laguna Seca & Buttonwillow) and it was still pretty fun.

I'm not sure sure about the autobox TSX though. The MT is plenty fun.

I just bought a 05 TL for $26k otd. If the TSX is anything like it, get the Acura. I was looking hard at the accords, but the only one i liked was the coupe, and it priced itself out of my interest since it only comes in EX-L

I would think the new Accord would have more room and get a little better gas mileage. Also, it would use regular gas and I am pretty sure the TSX uses premium. Being a new car, you might get a better interest rate if you are financing. The TSX will handle better and will probably be better equipped. Of course, being a used car, you have to deal with potential maintenance issues.

With those as the choices I would go with a new Accord. However, I just did buy a new car about 7 months ago and went with a base Hyundai Sonata. I was looking at an Accord EX but decided I just wanted simple, clean transportation and the Sonata has worked very well so far.

Get the Accord Coupe I4 190hp 5 speed. Under 22K and drives well and looks decent compared to the garish Sedan and aging TSX.

I like he look of the TSX...but the look of the Accord is nice and the car is a step above in terms of features, room, and useability in my opinion. Probably not as fun to drive though.

Another vote for TSX. Even though I really like the new look of 08 Accord, razor-sharp handling, HID, better interior with much more convenient feature (leather seat, dual-zone automated climate control, power seats, and nav if you get), 17" alloy wheel, sports suspension, etc make just TSX superior.

Oh btw, I like the size of TSX as well. Accord is just too big. :p It's a choice between family sedan and sports sedan.

well, if you are getting that particular, before 2006 the TSX power was rated with a different SAE standard.

190 HP now is basically a wash to 200 HP in pre2006 models.

the EX-L does in fact have leather, power and heated seats and sunroof. Only no HIDs.

the accord might cost a bit more upfront, but you generally get better financing on new cars anyways.

Local Lexus dealer was selling an '04 TSX with an automatic transmission and Nav for a list price of $19,999. It had just under 50k miles on it.

To get that in an '08 Accord you'd be spending $28,000+.

The question was what do you get more for your $20k.

The answer is pretty clear to me.
I can do a 5 year loan through my local credit union for 6.25% @ 60 months.
New is 5.49% @ 60 months.

20k @ 6.25% @ 60 months = $389/mth
28k @ 5.49% @ 60 months = $535/mth

Obviously a better value may be getting a used Accord instead of a new one or a TSX, but he didn't ask that.

The TSX is a fun car. Best-sounding I4 I've ever heard. The last accord I drove was a 1993 so i can't offer any thoughts on that. Have you driven them both? The TSX is lighter and probably has a slightly more aggressive suspension. I'm sure options would be the same, the accord probably runs on regular which is a plus. If you get the V6 it'll be a whole heck of a lot faster too. I get about 28 mpg in the summer at 26 in the winter. That's with a few trips to redline on a tank too. The I4 accords are probably better than that.

50K miles is almost warranty over.

and I never pay MSRP for new cars.
