Would you rather purchase a used 2008 Lexus ES 350 Base With Wood Trim with 14k miles on it or a new 2010 fully loaded Toyota Camry (without nav)?

A fully loaded 2010 Camry and a base ES 350 have pretty much all of the same amenities.
The up front cost is about the same.

Which would you pick?

Would you rather have your balls stepped on by a brand new shoe, or a 2 year old shoe?

I drive an 01 ES and love it, and the 08's are sexy. I'd go for the ES, make sure it's been used by a grandpa like mine was. When I got mine in 07 it had only 38,000 miles on it and full service records done by Lexus, not bad for a 6-7 year old car :D

Unless you really want the brand, you should get whichever offers the better financing (assuming you are financing).

If it were me, I'd take the new Camry if both cars are identically equipped.

A Camry cannot be equipped to become a ES350.

A Camry cannot be equipped to become a ES350.

My sister owns a MY09 ES350 and her husband a MY08 Camry and other than the speakers, power fuel door and the shiny "L", they look and feel identical.

Oh, forgot to mention Premium fuel for ES350 and Regular for Camry.

I'm in no way insulting the ES, it is a nice car but do those extra features justify

1. Potential new car incentives + financing
2. 2 years newer
3. 14k miles
4. 2nd owner

If it does justify, go for it, good choice. But if it were me <--- I'd take the camry.

funny camry interior looked and felt like crap to my family compared to the es350

that and es350 is a little bigger in the back, exterior looks much better (to us)

don't think the camry comes with real HID projectors (only halogen projectors)

i agree they would feel the same to drive both though

I don't think you need premium fuel, it can be run on lower grade with loss of power/economy.

Shop around and get the ES dude, you can find a sweet, low mileage one that has just been pretty much broken in.

Neither would be my choice, but if they are what you are looking for...my thoughts:

1. ES is the better financial decision
2. Camry would be my choice even though I really don't like the interior

2010 Mazda 6S 3.7L

Does everything better than the Camry.

The Lexus ES is a nice car but its painfully lacking in any testosterone.

fwiw, es350 does 0-60 in around 6.5 seconds, not bad for a car "w/ no testosterone"

ES350 does drive like Camry V6 though. It's nice, but very numb/detached. That's great for some people, and boring for others. Mazda6s is a lot tighter and livelier.

The ES has a horrendous interior for a luxury car, but so does the camry.

Neither of them for me.

I always find it funny how people on here comment on regular sedan cars with stuff like "it's so deteched, there's not a lot of power, etc".

It's a fuckin sedan, not a Corvette. It's meant to be the smoothest/most relaxed drive possible. If you want to feel every single thing on the road through your spine then yes, this car isn't for you.

The ES and the Camry are essentially teh same vehicle. They are built on teh same platform with same engine and suspensions. Transmissions are the same also.

The ES is the only "luxury" car I know that uses Macpherson strut suspension on all 4 corners like Camry. Less expensive and compact suspension, but at the cost of handling.

we have both (not the same years though) and they are really about the same, but the lexus is nicer inside. both of these are A to B cars and drive like a moving couch.

be aware that most people know its the same basic car and I have heard it called the camry lexus edition

if I were you i'd either get a camry LE or a different car.

94XLE <-so dd (on its last legs though, 210K mi?)
99LE <- my dd (113K mi)
06 ES330 so better car (54K mi)
08 Boxster <- my fun car (3K mi)
