Use Win10 Storage Spaces, and a larger microSDXC card, on a 32GB eMMC laptop, to expand storage, as one logical volume?

Has anyone tried this? Is Storage Spaces available on Win10 Home?

I ordered a few laptops recently for $120 ea., they are Stony Ridge-based, and have 32GB eMMC. (Would have preferred a SATA HDD, then I could have replaced with a "real" SSD.) Anyways, it has a microSD slot in the side for expansion. I have some 32GB and 64GB cards, was going to throw one in for downloads and installing 3rd-party programs onto it, but then got to thinking, is there a way of utilizing and configuring Win10 Storage Spaces, to make that microSD, a "seamless" expansion for the internal storage? Such that even Win10 major upgrades could go smoothly? (According to reviews, only 7GB free out of 32GB OOTB, have to uninstall apps to be able to update Windows.)

Edit: Darn, it doesn't work. "Manage Storage Spaces", on my Lenovo IdeaPad 110S, with a 32GB microSD installed into the slot, shows "No drives compatible with Storage Spaces found."

This could have been such a cool feature, if you could expand the internal eMMC with the use of a microSD, transparently, such that you wouldn't need to worry about internal storage for apps and Windows Update.

MS has the technology (Storage Spaces), why not use it???

Unfortunately you cant boot from a storage space volume.

32GB -is- a bit cramped for a full Windows 10 installation. Have you enabled CompactOS and disabled hibernation? That helps a good deal with small boot drives. You should be able to get down to about 16GB for the OS doing that. Downside is that Windows will compress OS files, so when it does updates it has to decompress and then recompress OS files.

When doing a major update Windows -should- figure out if there is enough storage to do so, and ask you to plug in a flash drive or SD card for temporary storage. That's what happens on my HP Stream 7 tablet. Although I haven't used it much lately. Battery is wonky...
