I was foolish enough to use the install CD provided by Comcast to setup for Comcast broadband.

The install CD installs IE 5.5 even if you have IE6. Not only that, it changes the IE logo and title bar saying "Microsoft Internet Explorer Provided By Comcast". :disgust:

After several attempts to find the offending Comcast logo, I finally found them! It resides at

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\SIGNUP\
throbber_anim_22.bmp
throbber_anim_38.bmp
throbber_static_22.bmp
throbber_static_38.bmp

Now, you can leave them be but please fire up "regedit" and navigate to

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar]

and just delete the following entries to get your "e" or "flying window" back:

BrandBitmap
SmBrandBitmap
BigBitmap
SmallBitmap

Next , navigate to

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]

and edit entry:

Window Title

Finally, reboot and all the Comcast garbage are gone! :) And always remember to backup your registry before editing.
