Use of GMRS Radios

I bought a set of Cobra Micro-Talk radios with a range of up to 6 miles. In the manual, channels 1-7 and 15-22 are reserved for GMRS licensed users. It also says that serious penalties could result from unlicensed use of the channels.

Is anyone here actually licensed to use GMRS channels?

 
A friend of mine noticed the same thing when he bought a pair of radios like that. I doubt that anyone (or very few) has a license.
 
If you run into the hardcore radio operators, they will bitch at you for improper identifcation. Better get the license, something like $100 for a family for a few years last time I checked.
