The Austin Police Department is constantly accused of using excessive force in many instances. I know that the video doesn't show the whole story, but they are never going to better their image with things like this happening. We do have a very low crime rate but that's mainly due to everyone being terrified of the cops:

Those cops need to be put in the county lock-up with a story of the incident taped to their foreheads. Though most cops are civic minded people with level heads, there are too many assholes who join the force so that they can beat the living sh!t out of people.

While I understand that the police have an incredibly difficult job, I don't see how their actions in this video are justified.

Even if the guy had a gun and looked like he was going to use it, you can clearly see that this man has already been subdued. There is no reason for the officers to be hitting this man and they should be charged accordingly.

What in the hell does it being in Texas have to do with anything? If you know anything about Austin, you'd know that it has about the same political climate as San Francisco.
