Use my upgrade on another line?

I have an upgrade on another line in my family plan. My Iphone line does not have an upgrade at this time. Can I use the upgrade on the other line then just swap out sim cards?

If you have a family plan, you can use any upgrade for any person/line (we've done it in my family plan multiple times), don't even have to worry about swapping SIM's.

That sounds good. I wonder about my unlimited data plan though. Will that carry over to my line..

Also isn't the new iphone 4 a different style of sim card? Will I be able to goto a store and have them change the sim card?

The new iPhone will come with the new sim card (its a microsim), so when you upgrade the line you want to use the iPhone on, it will provision itself for the line.

so let me get this straight. i have a 3gs. i also have a spare line/phone that is basically being unused right now. i can use the other spare line's upgrade to get the iphone 4 at the upgrade price and just use it for my line?

Yes.. you just have to keep the other line as well, unless you want to pay the termination fees.

weird, how exactly would this work? i figured since i had to sign for a 2 year contract w/ data plan, that doing the upgrade on the other line and thus getting a subsidized iphone would also make me sign a 2 year contract and get another data plan? blaalksjfasklfjalksf, damn you att! heh

Oh.. it will. But you won't have to pay the unsubsidized price. You still have to keep the other line with dataplan to ensure you don't have to pay ETF on that line.

Yeah its going to be tricky I think. If I upgrade my other line that will not be a problem. But transferring the data plan from that phone to my old iphone account will be tricky. I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and pay the $399 and get my line done...

Another thing is the new iphone uses the microsim card. My 3gs uses the normal sim card. So when I upgrade using my other line it will come with the microsim card and my other number on it. I was wondering how do I go about getting my number put onto the microsim card? Do I have to goto an AT&T store and have them give me a microsim card with my number on it?

Should be able to call and have them switch it.. That's how I did it last time I had to.
