Does anyone know if its possible to use my ATI All-in-wonder remote with a hauppage TV Tuner card?

Additional Info on card...

Its the PCI WinTV 25878.

Edit I got this card, not exactly sure how to determine the model number, but I know its the 878 chip on it.

I'm planning on using it with either XP Por or Media Center 2005

I'm guessing probably not, but would be nice if I could.

Thanks!

Like I said in the other thread in OT probably right as you were posting it here,

I just called Hauppauge's tech support number listed on their website and asked them for you. They said no. "Unless it's a Phillips remote, it's not going to work. The WinTV Go has no IR inputs or software supporting IR so there's no way to control it with an IR remote anyway."

Bam.

Cool, thanks for calling.

Strange that they specified no support for IR though since the All In Wonder remote is an RF remote.

Guess I'll just screw around with it some and see if I can have any luck with it.

i would think it shoudl work.... and that it would be more dependant on the software you are using, not the hauppauge card.

I think this because, when setting up beyond TV (the prog i use for PVR'ing) it asks what remove i want to use. I has firefly, hauppauge, ATI , etc as choices, and i'm using a hauppauge pvr-150.

I could be way off base though.

While the WinTV Go does support a remote, the remote it supports is indeed RF. Is the ATI All-In-Wonder a Phillips remote like the tech also mentioned?

Thats a good point, I don't think I have the PVR-150 though because I've read that model has a hardware decoder/encoder where the one I have doesn't.

But I do know that my remote works outside the ATI program within windows, I'm just more wondering if when I hit the channel/volume up and down if it will work correctly in an supported software that will work with the Happage card...

Well I looked and no where on the remote does it mention anything about being Phillips sadly :(

Only shows ATI on both the remote and the usb RF receiver.

Not to say that its not made by another company like Phillips and just rebranded for ATI.

Have you tried installing the card and the Haup. software to see if the remote works? You could always give it the ol' college try by yelling "work, dammit!" while you mash buttons

The software from Haup will have to be configured to look for imput from the USB device. If Haup's receiver is built right into the card, I highly doubt they're going to incorporate USB imput support into their software. On the flip side, if the receiver for the Haup remote is connected to your computer via USB, then the Haup software will obviously have support for it and is programmed to "listen" for imput from USB. At that point, the only question is whether the remote and the receiver operate on the same level.

I'll give it a shot in a few days once my new PC gets here, I'm wondering because I currently have a older PIII PC in my room that serves as my FTP and TV but after seeing the Hot Deal for the Dell SC420 the other day, I jumped on it, only issue is its PCI-E so I can't continue to use my 9700 All-In-Wonder anymore to watch TV and ended up picking up this Hauppage TV Tuner card fro $17 off of Hot Deals also.

Sounds almost promising, I *think* that all the remote does now is acts as if I'm hitting either the up or down arrow key to change the channel when I hit the channel buttons and left or right when doing the volume buttons, if my assumption is correct and I find another TV app that uses these same keys, then I guess I should be all set.

Thanks for the help Nik!
