Use hosts file to redirect all HTTP requests to a single address

I need to redirect all HTTP requests from a single machine to http://www.google.com

Do I just add

*.*.*.* google.com

Does that work?

you cannot use wildcards in hosts files

you could disable DNS and then have a single entry for google in your hosts file, that way google would be the only name that would resolve

Doesn't .hosts work the other way around? It translates a hostname to an ip address, not an ip address to a hostname.
