I'm thinking about picking up a Linksys E3000 dual band router so I can stream mkv's wireless to my ps3. My current wired setup using the powerline adapters and a switch aren't producing the speeds I had hope for so i fig. I might as well upgrade my 8 yr old router now and see how that goes.
My question is, rather than tossing the old router out, could I use this old router as some type of bridge or extender, and plug the ps3 directly to it and get good enough speeds to stream the mkvs? Would the old router need to be physically plugged into my cable modem for internet or could it act as an extender wirelessly? Would it be better to use the newer E3000 as the bridge/extender and plug the ps3 to that instead? If wireless speeds are good enough for my ps3, could I use this old router as an extender/bridge for my wireless pc and make it wired to the old router?
