Use for an old tablet.

While unpacking at the new house yesterday, I found my old Asus TF101. It has the Katkiss 5.1.1 rom on it, but it's pretty much useless as an everyday use tablet. I figured one thing it SHOULD be able to do well is function as a digital photoframe.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any apps that will easily and simply do what I want. I just want the app to pull pics from a shared folder on my WHS and display them on a 10 second rotation. No interaction needed. If I add new pictures, it should pick them up automatically and insert them into the rotation. Random display would be best, but I would be fine with in-order display.

No app seems to do all of those features. Any ideas?

I would recommend QuickPic Gallery. It can do a local network backup using samba. I would think that if they can put them there, they can also read from it.

The app was bought out recently by a corporation whose intentions are not known, but no extra permissions have been added as of yet.

Trade it into Bestbuy for $50 GC + $50 coupon towards a Samsung S2 Tablet. Otherwise just keep the $50 GC. That tablet was junk, can't believe I bought one.

I would but it's pretty beat up. Dropped several times. The bezel comes off easy because there's no screws - I lost them when I took them out to fix the power button that got pushed into the housing.

Edit: I also really have no other use for an Android tablet. I already HAD this one so I figured I might as well use it. If I can't get it to do what I want, I'll just toss it back in a box and forget about it again,

Jukebox? Realplayer had a program to shuffle pics on the screen. I have it on an old tablet I gave my mother.

Heh, yeah, me too. Bought it on release, said it was great, but deep inside I knew it was garbage. Wasted 400 bucks. Speaker blew out around a year later, bought a speaker on ebay, while changing it the screen cracked. I hated that tablet. Had white spots after a few months.

I was thinking of turning my useless windows tablet into a kitchen recipe display. Just take a bunch of screenshots from recipe sites, and place them into a folder. Then all you have to do is open one image and you can swipe through all your recipes. I decided not to do it because the telescoping arm to hang it would cost more than the tablet itself. I decided to spend that money on carryout and T-Bones, which dont require recipes. :D

Can always pass it along to a small child so they can play around with it and no one has to worry if they break it.

Yeah... load it up with some kids movies and hand it to a toddler. Watch them destroy it in about 15 minutes :)
