use all 5.1 speakers in winamp?

i recently purchased a the Creative 5200 5.1 Speaker system at bestbuy (the $50 clearance, really only saving like $20..)... but i realized that all my songs are probably recorded to only use the left and right speakers..i dont really watch movies on the comp or play games on this comp, but i do like having my music played all around me..

i'm running winamp 2.91. i'm looking for a good way to have winamp use all my speakers, so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I tried the virtuoso thing, it works in winamp 3 (but won't let me play WMAs because it causes an error), but in winamp 2.91 it doesn't let me choose the 5.1 speaker config..so looking for alternatives or i might jsut return these and use my old speakers (which i've hooked up to the gamecube -- sweeeeet 🙂)

btw, i'm using the on-board audio on my shuttle, a Realtk ALC650 or something like that.

thanks for any help!

yep, the realtek supports it -- i tested it w/ a movie and it works, i'd just like to have my music come out of all speakers instead of just the front 2

you have to turn off this wierd feature called "cmrss" or something like that...forgot what it was..but it's something like "cmrss"...i think...

and you turn that off w/ ur realtek drivers or software config screens

1) Go into Winamp's preferences
2) Click "Output" under Plug-ins
3) Select "DirectSound" and click "Configure"
4) Click "OK"
5) Exit Winamp preferences

You should now have sound from all speakers. There are more options to mess with in DirectSound if you want.
