Use a Playstation2 controller on your PC for gaming?

I bought an el-cheapo adapter to let me do this and it doesn't work at all.

Anyone have any recommendations for adapters that actually do work?

Most adapters are shady at best, and very few are reliable. If you can, look for a compiled adapter page that has user reviews and ratings.

..... i stand corrected.

My brother has been using a PS2 controller on the PC for almost 2 years now. I picked it up off Ebay for $12 shipped, and it's worked very well.

I have two from radioshack, I love them. Makes playing emulators and some other games much easier. Not suitable for any FPS, of course.

I've been using one from radioshack for four years now, and it works great. Better than any PC gamepad I've used. The force feedback doesn't really work all that well in most games, though.

i actually got one a while ago (don't recall where. many years ago) that was a PS2 controller with a joystick connector already on there. couldn't find proper drivers so it didn't work that well. don't know what i did with it.
