Use a hammer drill or rotary hammer to mix grout?

Or mortar etc... in a bucket using one of these spiral stirrers?

I could get a cheapo corded drill but it will be just dedicated to stirring and want to reduce the amount of tools dedicated to one function. Dont really need a corded drill, have a battery powered drill already.

So I kinda need something of the hammer drill or rotary hammer type and these are also high torque that stirring mortar requires.

The mixer I want is this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/QEP-30-in-Pro-Spiral-Mixer-61230Q/205554593 and can be fitted to standard 3/8 or 1/2 inch chuck. Can I use this in a SDS type drill? If not, adapters exist? Or just get the cheap corded drill and drag it out every few years when I tile?

Trying to figure out the best tool to purchase to fit my needs, thanks for any ideas...

For mixing grout I always just used a cordless drill or any regular drill laying around because it was usually a small amount mixed pretty loose.

For mixing full buckets of thinset I'd use a low speed Milwaukee D handled drill or the Harbor Freight mixer drill thing.

I think they do have adapter to put a chuck on a rotary hammer if you want to go that way. Mixers tend to get abused and covered in goop though.

I've always just used a paddle mixer in whatever 1/2 inch drill is within reach. A hammer drill brings nothing to the equation as there is no hammer action without down pressure.

No I understand that. If I can use a hammer drill, then I dont need to buy a separate 1/2 inc corded drill.

As long as it spins, it will mix the grout. As greenmail says you need to apply downward force to use the hammer action, so it will spin without hammering to mix if you want.
