USC's win over ND should have some controversy but no one knows that

On the last play of the game Matt Leinart was helped into the endzone by Reggie Bush, he pulled him or pushed him into the endzone i forget.

if you did not know, this is NOT legal, it is known as aiding the runner and carries a 5 yd penalty which who knows how that would have turned out.

but just another what if...

Missed calls happen all the time. Move on

it was blatantly obvious, but im just gunna go on and say its a rule that not many people know of, and the ref would have been killed (it was in ND though, so he would have been a god)

are you serious, this was a huge controversy when it happened. you are late to the party and you assume that we don't already know what happened?

how is it no one knows this? reggie bush said he did it after the game. it's been discussed.

bottom line, USC won.

i still think the SEC top top to bottom is stronger than either the pac 10 or the big 12.

Werd. SEC owns and OP is smoking some bongs for posting this about 2 months or whatever it is after the game. [/thread]

we'e still talking about that game? how about the should be offsettting penalties during the first 1/2 of the game that only got called on the USC player but not on ND

ok then i never paid attention to that game i went o well who cares, but just heard about the call a few days ago when reffing a game and blah blah blah.

Is that a college-only rule? I see stuff like this all the time in the NFL, but I do not watch college that much. Never heard of this before, and although I do remember seeing Bush pushing Leinart into the endzone, I don't think it had any effect, as Leinart didn't have too much resistance getting in.

Good luck getting that called. Not just for that play, but ever.

it has been called

even in the NFL

supposedly one time the fridge lifted Payton up by his pants and tossed him into the endzone almost, ive never seen that, but it has been called.

There were a lot of "iffy" things that happened in that game. Fact is ND lost, I think they could/should have won, but they didn't and quite frankly if you let a team convert a 4th down and 9 against you, you deserve to lose.

Here's an idea. Break up a 4th and 9 pass that went for 60 yards and you aren't worry about a penalty bailing you out.

Walker would have done the exact same thing if it were Quinn trying to stuff it in on the goal line. Boo hoo.

Anyone who has ever played football at any competitive level knows that you can't wait for a penalty to bail you out at the end of the game. Notre Dame had their opportunities to stop USC and they blew it.

And if you have to go back to a play when Walter Payton and The Fridge were playing to help prove a point, that would be a pretty extreme reach.

I can tell you that I never seen it called in any game that I have watched. I have seen a player get flagged for jumping on top of a teammate to block a kick, but never aiding a player's forward progress.
