USC vs VT game... If USC loses, how much will it affect their ranking?

FWIW, I've been reading a bunch of sports boards here in the past hour or so. Just about everyone agrees that the call(> 90%) was terrible, and that it was the momentum swinger.

Yeah, it was a bad call, but they ended up losing by 11. Would the correct call have changed the outcome? Possibly. But USC may have gone on to finish the way they did anyway with the only difference being that they win by a smaller margin. Who knows? You need to be able to get past calls like that. There was plenty of time left after that call and VT simply blew the rest of the game. USC, OTOH, survived lots of penalties including a couple of big 15 yarders and having to do one punt several times (which ended up costing them 20 yards in field position).

Yeah, I'm not saying the call made VT lose, it just made them lose momentum. IMO it is their fault they didn't respond, but it is a young team, and I really don't see Randall as much of a leader.

Exciting game anyway. I'm really glad that the college football season is here again. It looks like I'll be going to the Bowling Green vs Oklahoma game next weekend and the Texas vs Arkansas game the following week. Can't wait.
