USC fans are pathetic

They are playing on National TV, for a chance to play for the National Title, their first in over 30 years and they can't even sell out their own stadium? Are you kidding me? Only 75,000? Which also happened to be their largest crowd of the year!!! That is pathetic. Penn State, one of the most misearable teams in all of college football this year sold out every game this season, with over 105,000 screaming fans. Michigan has had over 110,000 fans at every single game for years. Heck, 125th row tickets to the Michigan vs. OSU game (when the national title game WASN'T on the line for the home team) went for over $250 a Ticket! At the USC game, you could walk up to the ticket booth five minutes before the game and get an $8 seat. But I do understand, being in mid December, maybe the fans (if you can even call them that) didn't want to come out to the game due to the weather. It was a frigid 70 degrees with some sun.

This is the exact reason they don't deserve to go to the title game.

Yeah, it was pretty sad that they had to fill up one end of the stadium with giant jerseys.

Yeah right, maybe Penn St and OSU sells out every game because there is nothing else to do in that miserable area.

This is the exact reason they don't deserve to go to the title game.
Your reasoning sounds like a case of Sour Grapes to me!

Last time I checked, Columbus, Ohio wasn't that small of a city or campus (nothing to do?)

Well compared to Columbus most of SoCal is a great area, especially during the winter.

alright, its a good area. so there goes that argument that the stadium is in the ghetto and scares fans away.

Exactly, the reason is that there is so much to do there. Also keep in mind that UCLA is another Big School there which divides the SoCal Fans Loyalty. I would be like both MU and OSU playing being in Columbus. When USC and UCLA meet there is always a sellout just like there is when USC plays Notre Dame ( a lot of Notre Dame Fans in SoCal)

that is the reason. so-cal is split up between usc and ucla.
they have t-shirts here that say something similar to i am rooting for UCLA and whoever is playing against USC (btw, i think these are dumb)

havent seen them before. you are right in saying that they are just dumb. i pity the people who wear them. school spirit is one thing but bashing another school is another. usc and ucla are both good schools in their own right.

Hmmm. Lets see here. Columbus Ohio Population = 700,000 people. LA = 3,694,820. Divide that by two, for two teams and you get 1.8 million or so. Still much more than the Cbus. This stands that the USC fans are pathetic. they sell out two games a year?!? are you kidding me. thats horrible. watch the rose bowl, I guarantee Michigan brings more fans than the trojans.

There's better things to do than watch a football game down here in SoCal.

yup. people here have a life rather than to go to every football game and then talk about nothing but the game for the rest of the week.

as far as i've seen, those seats have never been sold. it wasn't always jerseys - could have sworn i saw ads on there one year. my personal thought it was just for better tv visibility or what not. and that's not the end reserved for visiting teams - that's the other end of la memorial.

just because they don't "sell out" a stadium isn't a reason why they shouldn't go to the sugar bowl. that is the crappiest of reasons to pick on a team. who knows why those seats aren't put on sale. usc shouldn't go to the sugar bowl because they routinely beat up on inferior opponents compared to LSU, and lost to Cal, compared to lsu losing to florida.

LA is not a college football wonderland. a lot of people REALLY don't care. there is NO parking around LA memorial. when i went to the ucla/usc game my third year i luckily got to take a campus bus for 10 bucks, but parking in the private lots surrounding the coliseum were 50 bucks a car.

50 BUCKS! the other lots were pretty much full already too.

the game is driven by the current students and the alumni. people in socal do not randomly show up to college football games.

hehe true :D

wat was really interesting to me is that in the first game of the year USC went to Auburn (which was pre season #1) and beat their @ss in front of their fanatic fans

i agree that game shud have drawn much more, i was suprised myself seeing a lot of empty seats, but Football is very big in USC, this game is not an accurate representation of their fans

Wait, so a team that suffers one loss doesn't deserve to go to the national championshipl game because they don't sell out every game? But other teams that suffer one loss do deserve to go to title games because they sell out every game? Wow, that system is much better than the BCS could ever be...

And as other people stated, there is much more to do in California then watch football. I know the mentality in the midwest and eastern football schools is different and that the stadiums become bigger than some of the cities they are in. Also, USC draws a very diverse group of students who don't go because of football, but because of reputation in film or business, much like every many other Californian schools that have an academic reputation. A lot of people drawn from different areas could not care less about local sports.

And which fans are you calling pathetic? The people that actually showed up? Or, the people that aren't true fans and didn't show up?
